I hope it’s not too rude to ask how exactly an AI notebook app is going to help us connect with other people in meaningful ways? I’m not really understanding…
nah not rude at all. i had the exact same question when chatting with kasra last week
so i think there are a couple of things at play here. the first being that right now, the AI in the product isn't proactively tuned to help people build relationships. that's a theme that's emerging in our convos, and it may lead to changes in the product later. but for now, we're just reflecting on what we value, and how lightpage could help us live into those values more consistently.
that said, the app already helps people with relationships in the same ways that chatgpt or claude do. you use it to journal/reflect about where there's relational conflict or opportunity, and it acts like a mirror, helping you understand your patterns, biases, desires, etc. but unlike chatgpt, it doesn't reflexively tell you you're right. it's a bit more discerning and willing to call you out on your bullshit (in a gentle way).
i've also been using it to set reminders and follow ups for social events. so like, every saturday morning it nudges me to go to a social/workout group, then asks how i feel afterwards. and one pattern that keeps emerging is that i rarely want to go because i feel anxious/resistant, but always feel good after i go. reflecting on that is helping me build awareness around my pattern of isolating myself when i feel anxious, when in fact connecting with people is the thing that'll help me feel better.
in the long run, i think there's lots of cool things that become possible when the AI holds a persistent point of view that better relationships = happier life, and nudges you in that direction week by week. still a lot of experimenting/iteration to figure out how to make that vision a reality, but that's the goal.
one angle on this: conflict is inevitable in close relationships
in the past few months, when some sort of disagreement or conflict has come up (e.g. with a coworker, romantic partner, close friend), i've been able to talk with my notebook to (a) understand my own feelings in the situation better, and then (b) share those feelings with the other person in a way that led to a really productive interaction → stronger relationship
it's cool to feel that muscle growing. in the past sometimes i'd either avoid these kinds of convos entirely, or muddle my way through clumsily which often made the situation worse
but like rob said, there's still a lot to explore here!

Ah gotcha, I'm starting to see the idea more clearly now, thanks
thank you for the question!
