Hey Rob, thanks for breaking through and writing...and sharing the poem. It touched me. We can't let the business process rob us of our spirituality and humanity. Keep communicating!
I simply can't believe how you just articulated my thoughts !!! I'm 55 years old and I, too, pressed through 30+ years of corporate only to land in the same position that you are today. I wrote my first poem in a hotel room in San Antonio, TX. Looking back it was complete jibberish about loneliness, but it just seemed to be an outlet of the times. I kept that piece of paper and the 5-10 others I wrote in my early career years. Only recently within the last 3-5 yrs, have I been inspired to follow such a passion in writing, in exactly the same way and that same road you followed !! I, too, was an English major in college... found Shakespeare and others enjoyable, but since my friends were all business majors, I quietly kept that enjoyment to myself, feeling somewhat inferior to their drive for business success. Now, what's funny as I look back today at our successes through life (friends and me) ... I find these friends chasing and writing those "How I became an effective a leader", "Inspiration Communication to Success", etc. books. They often try to define what success means and write that best-seller 'how to' novel. Is it because they have enough money and are only trying to sustain that "power" legacy they built? One could argue the points either way, depending on the individual and relationship you have with them.. Then I turn and think that success is not defined by money, reputation, business accomplishment, image, etc. (and believe me, I live relatively comfortably,) , It's truly found in the passion that is uniquely yours !!! Quite frankly , the meanings and thoughts in your writing has NOT inspired me :-) hahahahaha ..... BUT.... you have reinforced the smile that I now have, the true meaning in my life, the uniquely-defined passion in my heart, and the exciting happiness that I, and truly, everyone has in their soul !!! Thank You !!
